Miss Siaw Looking For Mr Bird!

by FH2o on December 6, 2005

No kidding! I saw this classified in The Borneo Post, wednesday, December 7, 2005 this morning; and although this has nothing whatsoever to do with kayaking, I just have to share this with all my still “un-caged” fine feathered friends out there!

What does “a bird” mean?

My name is Robin, do I qualify?

Or is she refering to my favorite subject - bird flu?

Robin December 6, 2005 at 9:29 pm

I have to read it 6 times to imagine what she is saying and also put my limited Malaysia slang English to use.

I think she meant:

I’m Miss Siaw Tian, a 28 years old teacher who wants to find a life-partner.

Preference: Born in 1977, 1976, 1975, 1974… ABOUT 28 - 33 years old. He should be a graduate with a good career path, Chinese and can converse in Mandarin.

If you are interested, please contact:
013-8053089

I think she called to place an advertisment, and the person taking the call definitely had bird flu in her head.

hehe

aiyoyo! U so innocent one! U have “a bird” right? Unless u have been castrated! Aiyah! - she wants to make sure that your manhood is ‘intact’! I think she is translating directly from hokkien - so you are a “blue bird” loh!

I think you qualify - so give her a call to clarify and Apply. Keep us posted!!

I hope she doesn’t get a “small bird” ;-) She’d be dissapointed

9lives - i think she is a wee bit cuckoo lah …
But then again, this is a fine example of “Direct Marketing”.

Robin - Tried to call the number but it is constantly engaged! Must be ringing off the hook and I’ll probably have a long queue number to wait like the counter on your site! ;)

Keep trying.. may be the rest is doing the same.

How could anyone think of putting such a advertisement?

Desperate to the power of infinity?

Happysurfer December 7, 2005 at 3:47 am

Robin, media over-blowing? How else would Ms Siaw get any attention otherwise?!

YD December 8, 2005 at 3:23 am

It’s hard to seek out knowledgeable folks on this topic, but you sound like you realize what you’re talking about! Thanks
