Smoke On The Water

As I was parking my car going back to the office after lunch, I spotted two guys on a boat who appeared to be cleaning up rubbish ensnared by the floating trap laid across Sungai Padungan. I was delighted that the rivers, or at least this one, were actually being cleaned up and not just some political lip-service in the local newspapers in preparation for the upcoming State Elections. This is marvelous, I thought to myself. As I started to take photos, so that I could share this heartwarming scene, the two anglers who were also watching this matinee gave a chuckle when I remarked how wonderful it was that our rivers were being cleaned up.
“My dear fellow – please observe carefully”.
“We see this all the time. Those guys are just picking up some of the trapped rubbish while letting out others!”
“If you don’t believe us; see it for yourself!”
I watched incredulous as the two guys on the boat played out the drama exactly as described by the anglers.
Damn it! I was going to end this work week posting on a positive note! :-(

Smoke On The Water, Fire In The "Eyes"! :p
But in this case the smoke is as in 'done with smoke and mirrors' - an illusionary act.
"Stop using the river as your personal dumping ground! Or else, we will let out our pet crocodile"
You can't find group like Deep Purple in the market now, just like the way we are loosing our river, childhood games, nature and culture.
History in the making. What we'll do about it, eh? :)
Meanwhile, Robin can let out the pet crocs!

to say the least.
