Feast for the Eyes and Stomach!

by FH2o on February 5, 2006

Last night one of my best friends, Edmund took us out for dinner at Tom’s before he leaves for Brunei this morning; perhaps reciprocating the dinner we had taken him to the night before. While lazing on the timber deck in the late evening I noticed some interesting clouds formation and decided to take some snapshots of it and I was so glad I did as the evening skies put on a brilliant display that is truly a feast for the eyes. Certainly not a dog day afternoon! I’ll let the smorgasbord of photos above speak for themselves.

Later that evening we went to Tom’s and were ushered to the first floor where Edmund has made a special reservation for a table of 10. The sparse but spacious (not including the back balcony, there was only one table on the entire first floor!), tastefully decorated interior and the quiet surroundings truly make for a pampered and luxurious atmosphere. I ordered the lamb shanks with brown sauce as recommended by Edmund and it was truly the best lamb shank I had for a long time (washed down with fine australian red wine) and the preceding French onion soup was also outstanding. To top it off we had the most delicious durian, yes you read it right, ice cream! Our kudos to Thomas, the owner and chef, of this outstanding restaurant in Kuching; and of course Edmund for his company and treating us there. Now I am well fortified to face the dreaded coming work week after the Chinese New Year!

Great shots as usual.
Let’s all wish ourselves a good welcome back to work. The long holidays were refreshing and I’m still coming to terms with the feeling of waking up for work and sitting my life away the whole day. Thank God we blog.

FH2o, nice pictures as usual. Like the one with the magenta sky and the one beside it (the wild flowers against the blue/white sky). Lovely.

silveraven - yeah, the place’s a bit pricy but not exceedingly so compared to similar places in Spore or KL. there’s a special steak (similar to kobe steak) that’s off-d-menu (special pre-order) which cost ..eeerr wait for it R$199/-!!!

happysurfer - glad u like the photos; i do too!
