* its a bright sunny day with blue skies!
* a kayak on top of my car usually mean that I’m going kayaking! But not today (hey! its only thursday!)
* its on my car as Azmi (my kayaker guide) is taking my first two sakai angmoh tourist kayaking! they’re from every fanatical muslim’s favourite country at the moment - Denmark!

… reasons enough to smile besides being happy and healthy!

robin - thanks and this kayak/tourist business is actually quite interesting. I’m learning new things and am quite hopeful that I could make it work. I’m curious to see how far I can take it.

Like architecture; its a ‘happy’ business. People come to see you to enjoy and be happy! As an architect you of course help people realise their ‘dream’ buildings.

Because it always remind me of my bedroom door, only with multiple layers and streaks of red orange and yellow. Feels like home.

The beach resort hotels here do offers kayaks for rental as part of their many activities.

Poison March 31, 2006 at 2:39 am: I found your blog from Desmond’s and I believe I have seen you around in Gette’s blog as well. I see you are a passionate about kayaking. My last kayak expedition was in 2003. We started off at Pasir Salak on Sg. Perak (the widest river in Malaysia I was told) and end up on the shores of OBS Lumut. It took us (a group of about 40 participants and 20 double seater kayak) 3 days 2 nights to cover the 120 km journey. Needless to say, we were very tired (not to mention suffering numb bottom) by the third day and of course, we had only 1 month plus to prepare for the expedition including training sessions. Was it worth it? I would say that the experience was priceless….

I’m not fond of ‘big’ expeditions as it gets a bit unyieldly i think.

If u find yourself in these part of the waters; call me and we can go look for crocs! keke
Pandabonium March 31, 2006 at 4:21 am: A wise choice of color for a kayak. My personal one was all yellow. Easier for rescuers to spot for one thing. And for any other boaters to see and avoid as well. What ever the color, looks like fun to me.
Poison April 4, 2006 at 3:22 am: Hahahha…. I’m no kayaker. I don’t profess to be one but I do enjoy the activity. I guess I love being near to water. River, sea, swimming pool… Ever since I was introduced to kayaking I just fell in love with it… an adventure I wouldn’t miss (minus expedition trips of course… I prefer the scenic route)

I’m not a big fan of expedition. It was more of a team bonding project and given a choice, I would probably pass it on. But the experience had been an eye-opener for sure. I will definitely look you up the next time I’m back in Kuching and this time, I’ll keep my eyes open for you in the water. Hehehe…

I happened to drop in Phinmag and read about the trip where the kayak tipped. I loved the scenic river. Very nice. Would love to go there some time. Cherio!
