We were going to try the ‘best iced lemonade drink’ in town at the Believe it or not; but my friends who were with me swore that this car is still in running order as they had seen it parked at different places! Well at least it can move. Luckily I didn’t bet with them! This would make it the oldest and still running car in Kuching! This is a real classic and warrants a blog! So have you seen a car older than this in your city or home town?

wuah! looks like a hearse!
We still have those kind of car still being used as public transportation in the Jakarta’s suburbs.
wuching - yeah lor for shorties like u lor! oops! joking ok?
selba - you’re kidding right??? with wood trimmings? if so; you must take photos and blogged them! This is the only one I’d seen in Kuching so far.
Looks very nice eh… would be good to take a ride in it…
Wow! A real classic vintage!
lrong - ride may not be that comfortable … but u’ll enjoy the looks you’ll get for sure!
If its the similar car to a freind of mine back in Australia, it would be a Holden a 1960s model, i am not sure whats the model name though.
kawaras - this one is a Morris, a UK car. A long long time ago; in Kuching a Morris Minor is the coolest car to drive …
you get to see old old old rag and bone car more during Chinese New year.. where people will drive whatever they have to go visiting..
haha… yes, I thought I did see many old scraped cars in Kuching.
Hey, I have pictures of that car. It was parked at a food stall place, next to a soccer pitch, between Padungan and Ban Hock!
I think it is a 1959 or 60 Morris. What a great little ride!
Wow a Morris - “woody” no less. Throw the surfboards in the back and the kayak on the top, put on some “Beach Boys” ….
A Morris is always cute, even when it’s big, old and rusty. It sure looks like a boat with the wood trimmings. While I was living in perak years back, I saw several old cars in Ipoh town. I only have one picture for the record, and it’s a dull one. Will have to dig for it.
wow, the owner of the car must felt so proud having his car featured in ur blog !!!
ahahahaa
i not very short wor…
hmmm, i have seen it before, somewhere in padungan…you’re not the owner, right? hehehe
laksa - how i wished!
this car’s got character n style! I’ll drive it anyday instead of a proton! Oops! heehee
Wow! I wouldn’t mind finding a woodie parked next to me in a parking lot!
(No “woodie” jokes, please…though a real car fan might.)
Unker, how in the world do you manage to find things like this?
Its really not that old of a car. Its a 1958 - 1960 Morris Minor “woody”. Morris made wood paneled cars well inot the 1960’s but they had slightly different front fenders.
moody - this car is actually quite a familiar item in that back lane and quite a number of ppl has seen it; but to date it has not been ‘blogged’ yet; until now that is!
jay - but old enough to impress us! the wood trimings are quite a scream! wonder what timber they used!
I believe Morris generally used “ash” as the wood of choice for the cars.
Woodies were made in a variety of years and by a large number of automakers. Some of the old american ones are worth quite a lot. Heres a 1936 model on ebay

also many newer makes are trying for the “woodie” look but it is really more of a plastic applique as seen here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-PT-CRUISER-LIMITED-WOODY-CHROME-LEATHER-34K-MILES_W0QQitemZ4629064691QQcategoryZ15285QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
jay - thanks for sharing all those information with us.
Hmmm would u happen to own a Morris?
And if you do, can we go for a ride? heehee TQ!
