Dolphin Skies

by FH2o on April 13, 2006

Not really! I’m just making that up as since my encounters with the Irrawaddy Dolphins, I had been pretty much thinking about nothing else but them!

To say I’m enthralled with them would be an understatement as nothing had really captured my heart and attention to such an extent; well not since the last time I fell in love! No, I’m (wisely) not going to go there in this blog!

Anyway, I had even started to think of the kind of kayaks, digital cameras with long zooms & image stabilisers, waterproof binoculars, etc to buy to allow me to better take advantage of my future encounters with them! I was even thinking of going to go to the fish markets to buy fishes to feed them! Basically I’m going crazy just thinking about them!

Somebody please whack me with a paddle (or more kindly, just pinch me!) as I still cannot get over the fact that we actually saw these elusive creatures in their natural habitat. I would guess that less than 1 percent of the population of Kuching had even heard of much less seen them! And to actually see them in such close proximity from a kayak?? Now that’s simply unbelievable! I’m still on a natural high 2 days after the fact; but can you really blame me!

Anyway just ignore me and look at the photos of the spectacular skies I took on the way home from work just now; irregardless of whether they look like dolphins or otherwise! To me the dolphins are just as amazing; if not even more so!

Happy Easter Holidays tomorrow for us lucky Sarawakians and Sabahans. Here’s my Easter wishes that you folks may get to see Irrawaddy Dolphins in the wild like we ‘oarsome four’ did.

Can I go back to my daydreaming and fantasies now?

Read your dolphine posts again n again and just can’t get over the awe of finding dolphines in our waters!

Nice captures of sky…

I must really find a time to go to kuching during summer!

yd - u should do just that!

I’m still in ’shock n awe’!!

I cannot think of someone having a better experience than kayaking with FH2o through the rainforests or having encounters with irrawaddy dolphins in the wild!
It’s truly an experience of a lifetime!

If I were living in Kuching, I would jump at this opportunity! Ppl; you really do not know what you are missing! ;) And I’m not kidding folks!

Even as a person not living in kuching, I wouldn’t miss this opportunity to kayak with this expert!

I don’t have real kayak experience though, my only tiny experience is paddle a short distance out the sea in Redang, and that is in a non-windy day… any preparation?

I am telling a friend of mine and let’s see what we can come up for this summer! gosh i m getting excited.. now back to number-crunching…

thnx for your fantastic blog!

Hi FH2o!

I don’t blame you for thinking of the dolphins all the time. I would too if I were you. Believe me, I think of them a lot just by reading your post!

I read in your previous comment that you’re interested in watercolours too. So, hop over to my blog, I’ve posted something about outdoor painting.

I look forward to meet you in person too! :-)

Get hold of yourself and I hope your wife is not reading this as you can very much count on the days that you might be fishing, eating, sleeping, and pretty much everything else on your brightly colored, shark-appealing kayak.

Reintroduce the following willful confession:

“nothing had really captured my heart and attention to such an extent; well not since the last time I fell in love!”

Remember the two ball-less, counter-punch-less lawyer friends of yours that your made fun of not too long ago, I would start soliciting their help to clarify “last time” just in case.

Just pinching! (since you asked)
