more and more stuff in an ever smaller bag.
Suggest that you post about the rivers of S'wak. Years ago when I first visited your beautiful state, I was so impressed by the majestic, winding rivers, especially viewed from the plane. But what saddened me was the brown-yellowish colour of the water, which I learned was due to the erosion cause by logging.

Today, almost 15 years later, the problem is still there. From your photos, it is obvious that the situation has not improved. Today, your PM talked about this problem. Maybe you shd pressure yr politicians to do something.
flaneur - there are reasons why people carry 2 bags! ;)
Sorry,just to add.

As the plane approaches Bintulu, you can see the huge section of sea coast turned brown where the river joins it.
lam chun see - the main problems are logging and developments (buildings/infrastructure constructions and oil palms plantations). No one would stop them due to vested interests.

Rivers are not seen as an asset or valuable resources.

My personal view is that public awareness would be more fruitful. Hopefully my kayaking trips would highlight our rivers as a tourist asset and a valuable resource to be treasured and protected.
Up till now they are not viewed as such. I'm optimistic that this will change over time as more people are exposed to the beauty of our rivers. I'm taking steps in making this happen.

Thanks for your concern. How I wished more Malaysians are feeling this way!
The emperor and his throne.. what a perfect shot.

Your "take picture, take picture" instruction resulted in me having the similar pics. haha..

Yes, Malaysia has more problem to worry about than the rivers..

Priorities, Priorities, Priorities
As long as big money is at the root of environmental destruction, not much is going to be done about it.

In my native Oregon state, not so long ago, the police actually arrested a journalist who was taking pictures of illegal logging on public land. Then the county government pressed charges against him and threatened to do the same against anyone else "interfering" with the illegal logging. The journalist's crime? "Impeding economic development".

Ironically, erosion and contaminated runoff had a negative effect on local agriculture, so in the end the county ended up losing money anyway. Go figure.
