Bev To The Rescue!

posted by FH2o

Isn’t it funny how sometimes in life that the very thing or people you are seeking are also seeking you? And when this happens; well, it’s just wonderful and life is indeed sweet!

Folks, I want you to meet Beverly Chong or Bev for short. Process engineer, triathlon athlete and now kayaker! But my story first!

On early Sunday morning, I had to load the kayaks all by myself as we were running late already with not a sign of Azmi in sight. Finally I managed to get hold of him and he was as sick as a dog. (Btw he's fine now but a little hard of hearing ... *ahem*) I had a family of 5 and another 2 individuals doing our Rainforest Kayak Trip and as I managed to cinch down the kayaks on the 2 cars covered in sweat; I was wondering who on earth was I going to call at this eleventh hour to drive the other car for me. Heck!

Then it suddenly dawn on me that one of the participants on the trip this morning was a young lady who lives about 5 minutes drive away. Why not ask her if she minds driving one of the cars for me? So I called Bev and asked her if she could.

“Not at all and I’ll be there in 5 minutes time!” Bev, you’re an angel!

Turns out that Bev can kayak as well and she didn’t mind at all if one of the kids on this trip is under her wings too! In other words Bev is acting just like my guide instead of a paying customer! And she's loving it!

What's a triathlon? Some of you may ask. Well it's a race where you basically swim 1.5km followed by biking 40km and culminating by running 10km! Piece of cake right? (I break into a sweat just thinking about it!) Well, Bev has competeted in many of these races (more than a dozen since 2003) and has won several (1st, 2nd and 3rd places)!

The great news of course is that Bev would be guiding our kayak trips on the weekends that she is not competiting in any triathlon races! Do I expect to see more guys taking our trips after this post? Heehee!
