DsD – DVDs Sniffing Dogs!

I came across this news item and no kidding; they have successfully trained dogs to sniff out DVDs!

Here we don’t need trained dogs to sniff out pirated DVDs as they are openly on display if you know where to look for them which strangely enough only the general public seemed to know but not the enforcement authorities! Not that I'm really complaining of course!

Perhaps we should get these 2 dogs to train the people here instead! Woof, woof!

From the MPAA press release:

"United Kingdom, Los Angeles - - The Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT), express delivery company FedEx and HM Revenue & Customs, has joined forces to launch an exciting new initiative to help combat DVD piracy.

As part of a project promoted by the Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. (MPAA), FACT instigated the training of two black Labradors named Lucky and Flo by one of the world's leading experts in the field whose other clients include police, fire and rescue service. The dogs were trained over an eight month period to identify DVDs that may be located in boxes, envelopes or other packaging, as well as discs concealed amongst other goods which could be sold illegally in the UK. These DVDs are often smuggled by criminal networks involved in large scale piracy operations from around the world."

Cos think the smugglers can still get away with this..instead of smuggling DVD's that's encrypted with the movies in..they just send blank one's to be burned over in England instead...you know with technology nowadays..all I have to do is send the movie via file over the internet..send a whole box of empty DVD's over to england...(its empty..so they can't charge me smuggling ni pirated DVD's and then ask my agent to download the movie file from the net and burn it and sell it...hahaha...c..with technology..anything is possible..

Poor dogs..they should have just concentrated on training to sniff out drugs as they normally do...
