Kayaking on an Overcast Day

posted by FH2o

On Sunday we went to scout for a new ‘take-out’ for our River-To-Sea Trip at the Rambungan area. A friend of mine has offered me the use of his beach hut where we can alight and freshen up before the trip back to Kuching. This would save us the trouble of having to paddle back to the ‘put-in’ which I had discovered would be a bit too much kayaking for beginners and especially those who are not that fit. I frequently have to remind myself that I’m easily fitter than most pathetic the average 25-years old! *ahem*

Anyway this was also a wonderful opportunity to take and show Robin who (again) was around for the weekend! The weather was overcast making it a pleasantly cool day for those of us who do not appreciate too much sunlight or who use skin whitener!

Unfortunately the new access road to the beach mentioned by my friend was blocked with wooden barricades. But I knew of another access road to the beach which we took. We paddled from the beach to where we would previously head for and back. The gentle swells were a nice introduction to the conditions of sea kayaking for Robin and "I've-got-visa" Joe who came along with us.

After that we drove around the area to take in the sights and I bought some watermelons which were displayed along the roadside. On the way back and while waiting for the ferry, it started to rain heavily.

All in all it was a pleasant, easy Sunday afternoon and here are some photographs of the gray but beautiful day. A downcast gray for the incumbent trampled at the polls but a pleasant pastel gray for us! Gray can be great!

Uncle..I can see the headline on the paper the next day if Wuch and his favourite S'porean are on a tandem...its either S'porean drown after being smacked in the head with a paddle while kayaking with an Australian-Sarawakian or its the other way round..

Tell me when you plan to do bring wuch for a tandem with his fav S'porean and I will prepare the paramedics and the press hahahahaha

Uncle...be careful..that people who kayak needs good eye-hand and legs coordination...I am picturing Laksa going round in circles in the kayak..if his ability in pool is anything to go by with regards to hand and eye coordination hehehe
