Of Mice & Stupid Girls

posted by FH2o

I was most pleasantly surprised when I chanced upon the only sensible music video I had seen for a long time on trashy MTV and Channel V. Not that I really watch them at all as they’re getting more and more semi-pornographic which really turns me off. It was Pink’s ‘Stupid Girls’ and she reflected my sentiments exactly. She's sick of the current scene too.

What with all the young girls aspiring to look and dress scantily like prostitutes these days from the images they get from the music videos. I really do not understand why any female would want to debase and degrade themselves to look like that to impress the guys. You are a thinking person, not an object. Duh! If that’s not stupid I really do not know how to call it, name it or label it. All these young (and not so young) girls had been brainwashed and wants branded attires only and their role models are celebrities like Paris Hilton and the slutty likes. Is it a proud feeling that the whole world has seen you having sex? The strays on our streets do that too!

Yes; guess what - they all wanna be the same! Mindlessly mimicking their favourite celebrities. Whatever happened to individuality and the ability to think for oneself? To be true to who we are and not what other people would be ‘impressed’ with who we think they think we are. Surely we are not what we dress and what we own right? You are defined by what brands you wear or use and the latest handphones? This is massive brain hamorrhage ...

Look at the pictures of white mice I took at the pet shop the other day. The aimless mindless but cute and pretty looking mice. All looking exactly the same. But look closer; as I did and you’ll notice that there are amongst them one or two brown colour ones. But unlike the mice we can choose to be who we are and not mindlessly following what the adverts and media are telling us. This warrants as much serious thought as John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men".

Be who you are by discovering your authentic self and be free. And (unlike George) you don't even have to kill anyone to achieve this!

i like to watch scantily clad girls! i'm so bad...i need to go confession liao!
wuching - no need lah! which red-blooded guy doesn't?

if they blatantly wanna flaunt it, u can ogle it! wat kind of message are they sending?

its kinda crazy when a stewpig gal with more than half her boobs exposed give u d dirty look when u can't help but look at her cleavage! do u think i would look u in your eyes n look at your beautiful soul when u're dressed like that? WTF!!
Ironic that sometimes by trying to be different people end up just following a crowd.
unker,
some of them dunno what they are doing actually :D
just blindly following the crowd..
not everyone is as wise as unker :D
unker, times has changed and people are getting more and more stewpig nowadays. no? except the old wise ones la :)
ivan - there're YOUNG and wise ppl; same as there're OLD and stewpig ppl as well!! i mean - juz look @ our politicians, greedy somemore ... Oops!

not mutually exclusive lah! heehee ;)
totally with you on that, uncle!
and the weird thing is, some actually get irritated when guys (and gals)give a glance.

there's this one stewpig girl, sat in a cafe with a group of friends. she noticed almost every eyeball fixed on her when she approached, sat down and actually asked "why is everyone looking at me?" to her friends, who seemed to share the same wonderment.

My friend who was sitting nearby nearly got her lunch back on her plate.

aihhh....the world we live in.

no wonder some of us sound like pink... ;)
I don't know how it is in Malaysia, but here in Japan if young women and girls don't dress "sexy" (i.e. slutty) they tend to get laughed at and ostracized if not physically bullied by their peers. They don't seem to give a damn what such dress means, or who it's modeled after. If the all-powerful fashion magazines say the "cool" people dress that way, then they dress that way.

But at the same time it's just like what Agus said. They dress like they want to be viewed as toys rather than people, but they get really upset if people actually treat them that way (and don't seem to understand why it happens).

Considering so many middle-aged businessmen here are pedophiles...and those fashion magazines are produced by companies run by middle aged businessmen...I can't help but wonder...
what is interesting is that sometimes even your closest friend, or even family members act like that, and they don't get it even when you try to reason with them. The problem is, you KNOW they are not stupid.

i guess that is FASHION. how sad.
Sexy = slutty.. that's fashion!?!

But then again, if u have assets, flaunt it..

If you dun, please keep that secret to yourself and dun expose your liabilities.

Unker can relate the incident where a I-think-I-damn-sexy auntie showed everyone her 3 layered FATS!

Pui!
mm - to a certain extent, it's like that here as well especially in the bigger cities.

yd - they're not stupid but had sadly allowed themselves to be brainwashed

robin - i don't agree that if u have it, flaunt it. that's what's wrong w this world - showing up everyone else. if u have more money, power or are smarter - u flaunt it?
That middle-aged lady is doubly stewpig! *sigh* a dumb slave to youth n dubious fashion

When r ppl gonna wise up that it's who you are INSIDE that matters. not what u wear, own or flaunt.

Mr Ho, you are right about who you are inside that matters... so don't JUDGE a book by its cover!

But sometimes FH2o, some ppl dressup that way bcos it makes them feel confident.....i feel confident when i dressup sexy. I guess its the same when other ppl likes to dressup slutty. Understanding ones background is better than judging....dont u think? ;)
Dressing sexy makes you feel confident, eh? Okay, I can see the sense in that.

Maybe I should start walking around in tight jeans and a muscle shirt all the time...and stuff a cucumber in my pants. I'm sure I'd be laughed at everywhere I went (if not arrested), but at least I'd feel confident!
mm - LOLROF!! its early morning here n u want to make us all here die laughing!!!

do that, take a pic n blog it! I'm sure happy n selba would like to see that! Oh robin too I'm sure! ;)
Eee... I watched the interview between Oprah and Pink last Sunday night about this "stupid girl"

Wooo hoooo... can't wait for MM walking around in tight jeans!!!! What cucumber??? :P

Unker, why Robin also would like to see that? Wouldn't he much prefer to see sexy gals than a cucumber? no? Ooopssss... *naughty selba.. hide!!!* LOL
Lol, good post. I agree with YD though, because I've got friends like that. I guess their views on fashion are more daring than mine. And I blame a lot of the media and pop culture. Some people just follow blindly because that's what's "cool" atm. I know some girls like the rush of the attention they receive, but I don't think anyone should compromise their modesty for that attention.
Humans are so funny. Personally, I like to be naked all the time, except for my collar.
haha.. MM with cumcumbers.. definitely a sight .. must see..

wait wait ... any sexy lady walking pass.. drooling
can't wait for MM walking around in tight jeans!!!! What cucumber???

Selba....SSSHHHH!!!!!!!! *'0'*
cynical - when one lacks self-esteemed and/of self-love; then one craves for attention. it's also a potrayal of fragile or big egos.
'modesty' is definitely an out-dated term these days!! feeling of shame could be next on the list!!

momo - i hope your owner does not share your view; he would be arrested!!

robin - remember that sometimes 'silence is golden' ;)

mm - ppl, i think we have a request here ... *why are we waiting*!!!
MM- you'll have the best results if you make sure to put the cucumber in the FRONT of your pants, not the BACK. :D
MM, i m soooo sorry but i really have to expose your act to the public!

The cucumber

la di da di dum...
Naughty girl. Too funny.
yd - yup. cucumber certainly boost that guy's confidence. ;)
