Overcast Afternoon @ Rambungan

posted by FH2o

These photos of an overcast day would probably evoke different feelings from each one of us depending on our moods and situations in life. As such some may find the images peaceful and relaxing while it may be foreboding to others.

Irregardless of the weather, I feel invigorated whenever I see a new body of water as my eyes dart for possible put-ins and my imagination takes flight on what I may discover around the bend. Too many rivers and so few weekends in a year! Life may be short but it can be sweet.

Too many rivers and so few weekend.. hmmm

Unker .. I hope my river of life has less bends and rapids.. so that I can enjoy the journey in the most fulfilling manner.

Nice pics wor.. what camera you use har (asking on behalf of some of your fascinated lurkers)
u obviously like playing wif water, just play in ur bath tub lah if u can't get out! hehehe
that picture on the left is simply gorgeous. i adore pictures taken from jetties, piers etc. i'm just weird like that.
I think water has a certain magnetism about it. Reeds and roots growing out of the water are beautiful to look at, and the view is enhanced if you see fishes swimming in the clear water or birds or other insects and other small animals flitting or jumping about. Awesome!
robin - a river (of life) with no bends, rapids or currents is NO river at all! It would merely be a pond! ;)

wucbing - u also so kiasu n commented straight after d birdy! kekeke

hedon - not wierd lah; just being appreciative and sensitive to the finer poetic things in life! like me lah! *ahem* ;)
I like those pics. They both have a very reflective, sentimental sort of feel to them. Definitely food for the imagination!

I think water has a certain magnetism about it.

People have been saying that for centuries. Water has been seen as a symbol of the spirit since ancient times. The ancient Celts believed that any body of water had a goddess living in it (hence "The Lady of the Lake" of King Arthur fame). The ancient Greeks (and later the Romans) believed that the spirit world was separated from "real" world by the River Styx, across which Hermes/Charon the Boatman ferried the souls of the dead. Interestingly, the Japanese also traditionally believe that the worlds of the living and of the dead are separated by a river, but as there is no boatman their souls have to cross it themselves (and actually doing so signifies the point of no return to life...at least in that particular form).

Let us also not forget that a vampire cannot cross flowing water.

On the other hand, psychologists say that water signifies sexuality in the subconscious mind...
As magnetic as it is, water can also be sinister. The Chinese believe that if someone has died in a mass of water, e.g. a lake or a river, from then on, there'll be someone dying periodically to replace the earlier soul.

Was told that spells or charms will be broken if the victim crosses a water mass such as a river or an ocean. Not sure how true this is.
happy - yes, one place in Kuching came to mind immediately where I'd kayaked a few times previously (but hasn't since!) where the locals told/warned me that the place must claim a victim every year!! It's near one of the popular tourist resorts; so I shall not name it here! Urban Legends?
wah.. water also can stimulate such philo thots..

I am also going to post my water pictures.. Akan Datang!

haha
"水可以载舟,亦可以覆舟."
Chinese proverb: "Water can carry the boat, yet can make the boat capsize too."

Besides the talks on its magnetism, vampires or sexuality, let's recall the chinese zodiac/ alamnac/fengshui system that has water as part of the main elements... Hey, I'm a water boar! (not literally)
