How Two Russian Journalists Cooked an Egg with their Mobile Phones

by FH2o on June 8, 2006

I received this from my brother-in-law in Brunei who is one of those person who is forever sending you horror stories of flesh eating spiders, death from soft drinks tainted by rat’s urine and the like.

Anyway this is quite interesting story; and I wonder how many of you would still leave your handphone ringing in your pockets after reading this!

Vladimir Lagovski and Andrei Moiseynko from Komsomolskaya Pravda Newspaper in Moscow decided to learn first-hand how harmful cell phones are. There is no magic in cooking with your cell phone. The secret is in the radio waves that the cell phone radiates.

The journalists created a simple microwave structure as shown in the picture. They called from one cell phone to the other and left both phones on talking mode. They placed a tape recorder next to phones to imitate sounds of speaking so the phones would stay on.

After, 15 minutes: The egg became slightly warm.
25 minutes: The egg became very warm.
40 minutes: The egg became very hot.
65 minutes: The egg was cooked. (As you can see.)

Conclusion ..1: Cooking eggs with mobile phones is possible but very expensive ($4.55 or 123 Rubles)

Conclusion ..2: All this talk of danger is exaggerated; even if your brain gets cooked, it would take a couple hours of talking on a cell phone.

Conclusion ..3: We dont recommend carrying cell phone in your pants.

It does depend on which model of the phone you are talking on..

Of course the old Tai Kor Tai can fry an egg.. haha

Which egg? hehehehe……….

Happysurfer June 8, 2006 at 9:45 pm

I couldn’t help the above. It just slipped out (like the uncooked egg white).

FH2o, thank you for the cooking lesson.

Now I’m worried. There’s not many eggs to go around, any day. But where else can I carry my phone? In my shoe perhaps? Like Bond.

Maybe new cell phones will come with a kitchen timer on the back so you’ll know when your “eggs” are done.

Good one, Pandabonium. LOL

That post might explain the intelligence level (i.e. NONE) of a lot of these girls here in Japan that spend almost all their waking hours with their cell phones glued to their faces. It’s clear that they’ve already cooked their brains. The fact that they always talk so loud and stupidly when the phones are actually shut off for a few seconds is proof of that.

yucks! that’s why most people switch to talking via hands-free
how about wireless LAN (wi-fi) … unthinkable! better turn-off my boardband hub “radio” soon :(

C’mon people!!!

It is obvious that people who believed this do not need their brains cooked to think silly, although it would be the only usefull thing to do with them.
Obviously a hoax!!!
For crying out loud, don’t u have a cell phone? Stick it to your ear for 15mins and check if it warms you up.
You needed this kind of experiment from “world recognised” scientists?
