I had an Accident

posted by FH2o

I cut my face just now when I was releasing the bungy cord to untie the kayak and the rubber coated metal hook came loose and flew across my face and I suffered a nick just to the right of my left eyebrow. There was a lot of blood and I thought for sure that I would need a few stitches for sure as blood stream down my left hands to the elbow as I instinctively reached out to press down on the cut. But no stitches were required and I’ll survive the shock of the sight of so much blood and the sharp pain. It looked worst than it actually is and I’m okay. But I'm going to call it a night now.

Would this stop me from going kayaking at Bako National Park early tomorrow morning?StumbleUpon Toolbar Stumble It!

Ouch! That's really unfortunate, but you're still very lucky that it didn't catch you in the eye! Best wishes!
unker, hope everything is alright..
Have a good rest tonight.
if possible, postpone the kayaking trip to Bako to a later date.

My!..gotta b careful with those things man..they can 'fly' by itself. Anyway, i m sure you will proceed to Bako as planned...(no concussion right?)
O_0 Hope it heals up okay. That looks painful.
Ouch! Sakitnya! Hope you can still carry on with your kayaking at Bako tomorrow.

Well, if you think that's a lot of blood, it's less than 1% of what I saw on Wednesday ;-) haha!
OUCH! they look bad. i hope you're feeling better and those wounds will heal properly~

better not go kayakking just yet in case you fall into the dirty river and germs get into your wounds... :P but then i'm not a doc so better get advice from a qualified one. *lol*
Sorry to read that! Bungee cords can store a lot of energy and they make me nervous. My youngest daughter had one snap and bury the metal hook into her leg once. Nasty.

I later found a brand which had the hook completely sealed in plastic with a rounded end. A little safer and no rusting. But if it hits you in the face it is still going to hurt.

Take care.
Only an incorrigible blogging addict will think of photographing himself in that kind of situation. Anyway, thanks for sharing. May it be a reminder for us to be safety concious at all times. Take care.
OH NOoooo....

Unker... be careful!!!

Take good care, ok...
Fh2o, sorry about your accident. At first I thought it was a car accident when I saw the photos.

Ok, what sort of positive spin can we put on this? How about this ... for a kayaking accident, it's safer to have it on land than on water!!
Hi Folks!

Thanks for your concern, care and advice. I'll be more careful next time and would replace all my bungees with cam straps or ropes.

Bungee 1, FH2o Zero ... ;)
