The silver lining to the week long ‘drought’ is the crystal clear water and after several months, we can now clearly see the bottom of the Sg Sarawak Kanan.
At certain places there were only a few inches of water and we had to get out and pull our kayaks along.
But it’s clearly a small inconvenience to pay for another beautiful morning on the waters.

Hey Uncle..any good river or streams that you can recommend for a nice dip and not 2far from town area and preferbly not over crowded during weekends?

Most of these places are an hour’s plus drive away.
The stream flowing down from Gunong Serapi at Matang has a number of places but most would have ppl there on the weekends.
Kg Semadang, Danu, Bengoh at Borneo Highlands is a better bet.
Kg. Semadang? Is that the place with that’s at the end of the road, with rocky outcrops that forms the wall of one of the houses and the kampung is actually across the river where you have to use suspension bridge? Been there, but never went into the river for a swim..yeah..that looks like an ideal spot….
QV, if u go skinny dipping in the river u will scare all the kampung girls away when they go bathing & washing clothes! hahahah!

quavadis - if u do go to Kg Semadang, remember to park in a position so that you can easily drive off (reverse park; do not nose park) as the parking areas are quite tight and the kampong ppl there will simply park anyhow. unless u wanna stay a night there of course when u find yourself boxed in …
hehehe..KNB’s colleage is from that Kpg. Its his father’s house that have the rock outcrop as the fence….was there during gawai..so if I end parking wrongly..can always put myself up there for the night and yes..the river is really nice there…
