Trucker’s Hitch

posted by FH2o

After my accident, I’m throwing away my entire bungee cords and replacing them with cam straps to tie down my kayaks.

Unbelievable though it may seem, these are not available in Kuching; so while I await my kind friends to buy them for me either from Singapore or KL, its back to basics and I am going to use the simple and humble rope.

So I’m going to have to learn how to tie some knots. I’m starting with the trucker’s hitch. Any boy scouts (or girl guides) out there willing to show unker the ropes?

That was my favorite knot for tying down things in my pickup truck. You can get the rope as tight as you want with that.

Getting rid of those blinking bungee cords is a good idea. Once bitten, twice shy as the saying goes.
sorry unker, i only know how to tie a noose around a neck!
panda - Azmi and I had just learned this most useful knot for tying something down over a car.

wuching - a proper hangman's noose is quite a knot. ;)
I was an Eagle Scout, but I admit I never learned that knot! In fact, I'm not sure how many of my knots I'd be able to remember right now.
