Since the numbers of participants taking our kayaking trips are steadily increasing, I’d started to be on the lookout for a good second hand van to buy so that we can more easily transport the number of number of people per trip.

But I’d never expected to come across a van like this for sale which one would have thought had been abandoned. Perhaps its meant for sale as scrap metal rather than as a vehicle as one cannot even test drive it! The tow charges would probably be more than the price of this van. How much would you be prepared to pay for this van? Any takers?

Maybe the seller has seen too many cartoons in which the lead character buys a rusty, old junker and then uses a magic wand to change it into a shiny, new limousine.

Either that or he’s in the “It’s a classic” mindset…

The sad thing about this scrap metal heap is that it was once a proud new gleeming vehicle in a dealer’s show room.

So how did it get to this state? What was its history? Did someone not looked after it properly?

Is this how we will end up, eventually?

It may not run, but think of the gasoline you’ll save.

Everything has value, from a gleaming brand-new Rolls Royce to a one-tyre-short van. Its value can only be identified by the need.
