A Welcomed Relief

With the unfortunate return of the haze (again), the heavy sudden downpour on Sunday afternoon yesterday was a most welcomed (temporary) relief even to these kampong boys at Kg Karu who had to fashion an impromptu but delightful shelter from banana fonds. I was even more delighted with this wonderful photo opportunity of these happy kids.

What do you have available to keep you dry in a sudden downpour when you don’t have an umbrella handy - your briefcase, newspapers, cupboards or something else?

Most people in Japan just steal someone else’s umbrella. Umbrellas and bicycles tend not to remain with their owners for very long, and they get passed around a lot.

Just don’t let me catch them trying to lift mine…

Hi Francis! sorry long time no visit, and haven’t had time to update my blogroll lately, but there was an article in the New York Times today that reminded me of you!

Article link, I hope!
