At first we were quite excited about picking up the durians from the river which soon filled our kayaks and we were quite happy to let subsequent ones we saw just float past us! There were also plenty for sale for a ‘dime a dozen’ at Bengoh, Danu and Semadang where we take out. Ahhhh, so many durians and so little time! *burp*

Durians floating down the river??? That’s amazing! I live in the U.S. where we have to settle for frozen durians that have been shipped across the world. They are delicious though! I have heard that they are not nearly as good as fresh ones right off the tree.
My durian this morning had worms in 2 sections. That image is still haunting me (but not enough that it kept me from eating the rest of the sections of durian.
Diana - Yes! They grow wild by the river banks and some of the fruits rolled down the banks into the river while others fall right into the waters. Good thing that they float!
Fresh is always best and best of all they are truly organic.
I frequently share my durians with worms - so no worries there! And if it’s any comfort - the worms are edible too!
