Purple Clouds and Purple Faces

by FH2o on March 8, 2007

My flight from KL yesterday evening landed 15 minutes ahead of schedule but this was quickly negated by the massive traffic jam at the flyover under construction and after more than an hour stuck near there, we decided to take a long detour finally reaching home in about the same time it took for me to fly from KL to Kuching!

Fortunately I was consoled by the beautiful sight of purple clouds in the evening sunset. However those on the way to the airport to catch their flight would not be that easily consoled should they miss their flight(s) which I suspect would be the case judging from the non-moving traffic in either directions. *sigh*

Have you ever missed your flight on account of some unexpected circumstances?

I came dangerously close to missing a flight back to Japan from Oregon because it rained the night before and then froze, coating the streets with ice. To make matters worse, when my friend tried to drive me and my wife to the airport his car broke down halfway there (right in the middle of one of the most dangerous parts of Portland). I called a cab from a nearby payphone, and he got us there pretty much just in time!

Needless to say, I gave that awesome cabby a massive tip.

blackwidow - Must be something in your friend’s sub-conscious mind!

mm - That must be heart-stopping! The cabby deserved the tip.

For the totally ignorant country cow, the flyover is open to traffic to the airport from Jalan Tun Jugah.. so no traffic jam to the airport or missed flight due to it.
