Curling Bridge

posted by FH2o

I think it would really be neat to have a draw-bridge like this at my jetty to get across to the other side of Sungai Stutong! Designed by maverick british architect-artist-engineer Thomas Heatherwick, the bridge can 'curl itself into a ball' when not in use so as not to obstruct any river traffic. He called it a rolling bridge. I call it neat and ingenious. Really cool. It has also won the 2005 British Structural Steel Award. I really wished the engineers I'd worked with are a tenth as ingenious! *sigh*
