On Cropping and Coping
posted by FH2o
I think one of the coping mechanism we use to get through our lives is to 'crop-out' the unpleasant or painful things we do not want to know about. While this can be helpful to a certain extent, it can perhaps be unhealthy over the long term if we deny rather than face the truth or problems we need to work through in order to grow. We have all know of or encountered neurotic people who choose to see things only in a certain way.Thankfully cropping works out in the long term with regards to composition as it allows us to salvage an otherwise nice photo but is too busy/fussy looking with too many elements in it by editing/cropping out the unnecessary details. Usually less is more (except when it comes to hair!) and here is an example from a snap I took out of my car window on the way home from work yesterday evening. The original photo is on the left and the cropped photos are resized, borders added, given 'drop shadow' and arranged in Photoshop. If anyone find this photography tip helpful, let me know so as though I'm no expert, I'll be glad to share how I take my photos and present them here on this blog. Just let me know. And if you also want to know about coping - let me know as well too!
Trusting that your weekend requires no cropping nor coping! Cheers.

Oh! And David (from New Orleans and now living in Vienna), if you are reading this - my apologies for somehow missing out on replying to your emails which I do not 'crop' out! I'll get back to you very soon.

Post a CommentHey friend, you also impress me in producing some spectacular photos. We stay in the same city, yet you see much more than I do of Kuching sceneries through your lenses. That extra colours and beauty are what we need to get us on in life. Cheers. Justin
Thanks Justin.
It's actually all out there but only seen by those who chooses to see! To see the glory and beauty of nature and the grace and wonders of it all - we must first be 'present' in the here and now; in other words we need to give pause to the thoughts of our mind - to catch a glimpse of heaven here on earth.
I hope I am able to capture and share these moments here - a snippet of beauty and the revelation of 'God' (for want of a better word!). Those who know this understand exactly what I'm talking about; and those who don't would do well enough to start seeking now.
Be well.
