My wife was stung in the palm of her hand early this morning just as she was opening the car door to get out. She shook off the wasp in a reflex action sending the wasp to the ground which she promptly (and wisely) stepped on to advert any further attack.
As her hand and arm swelled up, she sought medical attention and was given a jab, ointment and some medication to take.
I would do well to heed this incident as a warning about possible ‘attacks’ from unexpected quarters with a lot of nervous people at work from the uncertainty arising from an insane abrupt change in our senior management which is not so pretty. Not at all. *sigh*

I hope your wife is OK now.
We had a strange situation here a few months ago. Japan has a very large hornet which lives in the mountains. They are huge and very dangerous. High winds and storms apparently swept some away and in one week I saw about six of them on the ground here in Kashima, near sea level. None of them looked very healthy from their travels, but it was kind of scary to see them anyway.
