The best ‘Yew Char Kueh’ in town can be found at Petanak Market.
While most school kids their age are still sleeping in bed on the weekend mornings, the Goh sisters (form 2 and 4) who are studying at Kuching High School are already up before sunrise and are busy taking charge of their parent’s ‘Yew Char Kueh’ stall on the first floor of Petanak Market; making as well as selling them.

The best example of fine young people can also be found at the “Yew Char Kueh’ stall, 1st floor, Petanak Market
While I relish their delicious ‘Yew Char Kueh’ (which stays crispy and not soggy), I am more in admiration of these two girls whom in this day and age are true gems sparkling of sacrifice, enterprise and grit. All the more so with their cheerful disposition and proud that they are the third generation in the family tradition of making ‘Yew Char Kueh’ - their uncle has a stall in Green Road, an auntie with another in the 7th Mile and on Saturdays at the Satok Sunday Market. Somehow I feel that with their education and qualities; this would likely be the last of the Goh generation to be selling ‘Yew Char Kueh’ - unless they make a franchise out of it,
Note: I love my Yew Char Kueh lightly toasted (to make it crispy) and spread with kaya on top - dunked into freshly brewed hot coffee, it’s simply divine!

Life is so full of unpleasantness and negativity that we will do well to be mindful of this repulsive aspect and instead choose to dwell on more pleasant thoughts. That’s why I do not want the post below to linger on the front page as it leaves such a bad taste in my mouth.

And a good excuse for me to rummaged through the numerous events that I have attended and had not have the time to blog about. One of which is the Miss Tourism Pageant 2007 Preview Show held at the Kuching Indoor Stadium on the 30th November 2007; and which I think all the guys reading this would agree that this is much more pleasant than having to deal with *&*%# tight-ass arseholes!

Here’s wishing you a most pleasant weekend. And if you really cannot help yourself - do try to ogle discreetly …

Yesterday I met the most seriously solemn person I have the displeasure pleasure to meet, obviously not out of choice but sheer necessity. It was quite a tense 60 minutes with such a tightly wound up ass of a person who would be better off as funeral director or prison warden rather than in an industry that requires a lot of interpersonal relationship and friendliness. It has been a while since I’ve met anyone so full of the brown stuff themselves! It’s quite an amazing revelation that there’re such egoist people around who are caught up in their own self importance and excruciatingly dull seriousness that you seriously wonder if this type of person ever allow themself to have any fun at all.
Do you take things that seriously all the time? Obviously not otherwise you wouldn’t be a reader of this blog. Be Well.

In the rapid rush to development and prosperity in Asia; social graces have obviously not kept pace.

You can never predict how one’s design would be put to other creative use in the real world. *sigh*
As the saying goes - “You can take a person out of the kampong, but you can never take the kampong out of that person”; whatever.

While I was having a totally unmemorable day at work yesterday fretting over the sudden uncertainties that has descended on the miserable working stiffs; Azmi was having a much better time out at Borneo Highlands guiding Alasdair from the UK and aussie couple Darryl and Hannah.
Their good fortune continued when they got off the waters and went to Semengoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and saw more than half a dozen orangutans during feeding time.

Wishing you a memorable weekend ahead. Me? After a trying week, I’m ready to get wet and wild!
