My Chinese New Year mountain bike and I suspect you’ll be seeing quite a bit of her from now onwards in this blog!
I just bought a new mountain bike at a bargain price (at less than one third of the sticker price of over 1.5K) as it had been sitting in a warehouse for the past couple of years. It’s a full suspension 21-speed bike with an alloy frame. The brand is “Norton” and it was manufactured and assembled in Malaysia by Kinrara Cycles Sdn Bhd back in 2001. I believed that the company and brand is unfortunately no longer around. This was their high-end model.
Beautiful Sunday skies over Kuching from a bicycle.
So yesterday evening I took her for a cycle to the Sama Jaya Industrial Estate and over a short dirt track to get to the banks of Sungai Kuap to take in the wonderful views of the river and the sunset. It was a comfortable ride with the full suspension although I could do with a couple of more gears on the straight long roads of Sama Jaya. I can hardly wait to go cycling through the coconut plantations of Beliong soon. That would be nice - very nice. Trusting that your weekend was nice too.
On the river banks of Sungai Kuap and a reminder on the impermanence of things and the incessant flow of life and time - so get out there and cycle now!

Hey! We must have missed each other yesterday. I biked to the Sungai Kuap bridge yesterday evening and then, back to my place in Muara Tuang.
Kuh..Chingh!! has so many, many..many wonderful places! The mountains, forest, beaches & rivers…all are less than 45 minutes away!
Stuhpeed KayEL..after 45 minutes, still stuck in (tolled) highways built over muddy rivers, next to concrete jungles, where one STILL can see the highest peak(S) of KayElleSeeSee.
I missed my annual pilgrimage to East M. (my 2nd home) lar.
Happy Chinese New Year to you! “Xin Nien Kwhai Lert”+ Gong Xi Fa Cai.
Will you be jumping logs, rocks and riding across creeks now, in the true sense and use of mountain bikes?
What a beautiful machine! I’d call that a “love purchase” if ever I saw one!
adorable shots indeed! especially the last one with the logs..
