House or palace? Singaporeans living in pigeon holes can eat their hearts out …
This is probably the biggest castle house in Sarawak if not in Malaysia. With 5 levels and over 50,000 sq.ft of enclosed floor area spread over acres of land and perched right on top of a cliff; it is an understatement to call it an obscene unabashed display of ego, wealth and conspicuous consumption. Whatever. And it’s enough to give the Brunei royal family, in the neighboring sultanate, an inferiority complex. Perhaps we’re all just jealous. I am. *sigh*
This is NOT an exclusive country club - it’s too big to be one!

Not the least bit jealous. I think it’s a gross display of excess.
its ugly! doesn’t look homely more like a hotel
whose house is it?
Gette - you should have seen the rest of the complex and the grounds … (and then puke?)
Wuching - how would peasants like you know about such splendor and grandeur?
eksk - i am not at liberty to disclose this here lah! it is risky as it is to blog about this …
…not to mention the senseless waste of energy and resources it takes to build, maintain, and run a “house” like that. Living large and wastefully still seems to be the mantra of the stupids who think we can exploit our planet indefinitely. Yikes.

you use to design houses like this dont you remember?
Nice to see you post an article on architecture or non-architecture.
Do one on Ting Pek King house please.(Jalan Song)

Jamy (ah Ling).
if it is open for public then it’s good, but if it belongs to someone for private purpose then it sucks big time..such a waste of good land and it’s view..we are blessed by god with a beautiful town, it should be cherish by everyone..hopefully everyone is accessible to this lovely place..i love miri so much..
mirian - It is a private residence of a local tycoon … so I doubt it would be open to the ‘public’ anytime soon.
Photos were taken back in April whilst finishing works were in progress; so I’d guess ‘they’ must be enjoying Christmas in splendor there now even as I post this reply to your comment …
