Francis,
What you expect lah in Sarawak, you guys are ruled by king, not democratic here like US.
My boss intercepted my cell phones (this was like 15years ago, 1993). He reprimanded me that I talked to my friends about company stuffs.
If that is in America, I sue him kuat kuat lah but instead I kena reprimanded by him.
This bosses, CEO, COO, Datuk, Tan Sri, whatever pankat you got in Malaysia, got nothing to do, if not go play majo or else intercept people cell phone, what primitive society mind set, all these 'chi sing' people.
Actually lah, this IT people just doing things for boss one lah, boss ask to jump longkau, they also jump one. No balls one all lah.
A, come US lah, we franchise our 'kalo me'. I see a lot of small chinese restaurant but why chinese people donot start franchise fast food chain like 100000+ kind of 'angmo' fastfood chain here.
A, if you can steal the 'wayang street sia poa' recipes, I can open jalan for you at our local super market.
Burmese people, 1 couple (husband and wife) sell sushi to these 'angmo' can make like $1mil a year, I am sure the 'wayang street sia poa' can sure beat them one lah, angmo like pastry more than nasi leh.

Keep cool. Keep attacking the stupid IT guy. His style is slow and devious. He smiles at you when he greets you but beware of his dagger from behind. I salute you for standing your ground. Nobody there has the gut to stand for what they believe in.

Maybe the IT guy is just trying to cover his own tracks, because it's actually him who spends his days at work surfing XXX websites? I'd send him some "private" emails with recommendations ;-)

Is this form of spying and invasion of privacy at work legal in Malaysia?
