It’s a hammock! It’s a tent! It’s a Chair! And it’s costing me good money!

My “Expedition A-sym” model Hennessey hammock arrived before lunchtime today (courtesy of a friend visiting his daughters studying in Melbourne and playing courier man for me), just in time for my kayaking/camping trip at Tasik Kenyir this weekend. I’m flying out from Kuching to KL tomorrow afternoon. But more on this in my future posts.

But this is no ordinary hammock (and that’s probably why it cost me $AUD219/- around RM650/-!) but I was sold by their marketing blurts on their website:-

“Experience a level of comfort on the trail almost as good as your bed at home and maybe even better. The Hennessy Hammock is a totally new design for camping hammocks with patents in the U.S., Canada and internationally. It has been tested in Canada, the U.S., Central and South America, and Africa and used in some of the most extreme conditions and hostile environments in the world. The patented asymmetrically shaped hammock supports your back like a quality mattress off the ground. You will wake up in the morning feeling great. Some owners of Hennessy Hammocks claim that they come home from their adventure feeling better than when they left.”

They claim that it is “most innovative solution to lightweight, comfortable camping on the planet.” I really hope so as where we’re headed there are plenty of trees but even grounds are not easy to come by and we would be camping out for 4 nights. And I love comforts and value my sleep.

I will report on how good (or bad) this hammock tent really is after my trip. Stay tuned.

Is the hammock tent any good?

Hi Graham.
Yes! It’s very good. I’m so glad that I had it during my recent kayaking trip @ Lake Kenyir!
