NOTE: I’m frankly surprised by the interests on this post (of the 4th July 2008) judging from the number of comments; and as such I’m leaving this on as a “sticky post” for the time being - meaning that it will remain on top of the page all the time with the latest post(s) just below it. We all want to do our bit for our home - this planet.

This past week I’ve been hearing from people who having attended a seminar/workshop are enthused about changing the world with their organic garbage! Then I started receiving invitations via email from people known and unknown to attend garbage enzyme workshops by a certain Dr Joean Oon.
Having no idea as to what garbage this “garbage enzyme” was I ‘googled’ it and came up with this website.
Garbage enzyme is the solution to recover our ozone layer and lower the global temperature. Come and discover how you can change your kitchen waste to useful enzyme. Garbage enzyme can be use as natural households cleaner, air purifier, insecticide, detergent, bodycare, car care, organic fertilizer and many more. If everyone of us reduce 45% of garbage than we don’t need to have more landfill around us.

There’s not a lot of hard scientific information (surely there must be a scientific name instead of just “garbage enzyme”!) on the website as I would have like to see and insufficient information on the actual detail usage; but anything to save the planet is a noble cause. I just hope that it’s not just garbage information as Garbage Enzyme is really easy to produce.

hello. I read an article about garbage enzyme just yesterday in The Star and I want to know more. Do you know how to contact Dr. Joean Oon? I want to approach her for a scientific research. Please e-mail me if you (or anyone you know) happen to know how I can contact her. I understand she must be busy. I want to visit her garbage enzyme factory in Penang soon. tq.
I believe this can do wonders for our environment. We need to help to take care or Mother Earth as much as we can!
Hi, here’s the contact details for Dr Joean Onn:

Thanks for responding Catherine.
would like to know about the sugar. is the sugar the loose gula melaka (chinese brown sugar)
TQ
had done few big & small bottles of the enzyme 4 the last 2 weeks, but still have a lot of questions to ask, whom / where to ask? not much info i can gathered from web sites,
i also intend to attend the workshop on 10 aug at bukit jalil, but can’t get entrance ticket, anyone know where to get it cost how much… pls let me know, wish i can bring my enzyme bottles to show them & ask questions
thank u
Hi all!
I attended the workshop on 9 Aug at Bukit Jalil (English version). Everyone should attend. You’ll get a free garbage enzyme to try. It’s important we all take this first step to save the Earth!
Pei Yean - there’s a website @ http://www.o3enzyme.com/ which you can refer to/get more details! It’s time we all take ACTION!
ya, i attended the 10 aug workshop, good, understand more, & decided to make more, as i love gardening
thank u.
Yup! surely agreed with this new find out. I attended the workshop..interesting n provide more understanding about garbage enzyme.. will share with more frens…
I am a student. I wish to introduce this good news in every corner around me. I have a question, what happen with the O3 that produced with the process of producing the enzyme? My friends told me that the ozone gases will give benefit to us when it is in the right place, in high high there, I mean in troposphere, but it will give worst to us if it is around us. Would anybody can explain even further for me?
Thanks.
Let us start our very first step to make world change.
chun keong,
i don.t know much about o3,but someone did ask prof joanne that day o3 around us are not good, she answered, yes true, but only only if the level is above certain reading(i can’t remember how much she said), but this garbage enzyme only produce 0.7 (something like that) which do not harmful to human, & at the Q & A section, someone suggest her to provide the test report that her group had done in singapore, she agreed,
i personally , without deep knowledge abaout science, believe that natural thing won’t be harmful to human & environment, what do u think, can anyone else give more specific detail & explanations about this?
thanks
Hi, I read about the garbage enzyme article in The Star and also another article about ozone, o3 and enzyme making in the following week after the first article. My friend gave me the info as Chun Keong mentioned above. I am confused. I made lots of garbage and fruits enzyme at home. I have doubt about it now. Is there any scientific studies to show that the gas is not harmful to us? If it is not harmful in short term, what about long term as we almost do it every week? Right now I place the containers inside the house, shall I move them to the patio? My friend use cloth to cover her enzyme instead of plastic. Will this be better? Anyone, any useful website can provide info for us? Otherwise I may stop making my own enzyme but buy as I have children and baby at home!
Thanks!
Wow…the 21st century version of composting! That looks interesting, though. I’ve been planning to build a composter so as to put my organic garbage to some good use, but this looks even better…because it gives a use for leftover bath water, too (definitely an issue in Japanese houses!).
Thanks for posting this.
I applaud the good Dr’s research on the enzyme. You guys shouldn’t be worried about the gas they emit, shouldn’t be that much even if you’re doing it in a big tank. Gas would be dispersed to atmosphere. But the amount of sugar u use make sure that it is totally fermented using the garbage otherwise the extra sugar would be growing bacteria in the river instead so follow the Dr’s instruction carefully. I only can for sure say that the enzyme can be used for further decomposition of other garbage. Duno about the river, that you need a plant for it.
I have done my garbage enzyme for one month but it yet to be fermented. May I know why ?
i’ve done quite lots of enzyme at home. my girl likes playing in the garden and feels itching after that. now i mixed up the enzyme in the water and bath her. it really works! my girl no more complaining the itches like usual after taking the enzyme bath, now after eating the fruits, automatically she throws the leftover in the enzyme bottle for fermentation. Praise the enzyme.
Any particular reason for using brown sugar instead of white sugar? Why? Pls advise
Thank you.
I am a newbie where garbage enzyme is concerned and on 22/9/08 prepared my first batch of using serai, pandan leaves, banana, some bits of dragon fruits and duku. As I am using a cooking oil container, my preparation is not really air tight. I wonder if this will affect the effectiveness of my preparation. Anyway there is a slight fermenting smell but it smells rather pleasant. I hope this trial of mine is successful as any little thing that can improve Mother Earth and can also be used as fertiliser, pesticite etc is something I really look forward to .
