Squirrel for Lunch

Hungry Squirrel eating bananas

Lunchtime for a squirrel. 26 August 2008

One of the advantages of living in a small city like Kuching is that one can have the luxury of going home for lunch and a nap and making it back to the office in good time afterwards! I could never do that when I was working in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. An hour and half lunch break is most sensible.

Anyway I have the added bonus of having a squirrel for lunch today as well, when one came down from the mangrove trees onto the table at our timber deck where I have left some bananas for the on the weekend for them. And thanks to 6 x optical zoom (210mm) of my Canon G9, I managed to capture some snaps of this really cute squirrel from my dining area, which really is ‘chicken soup’ for the soul and most nourishing. Burp.

I think I’m going to start a ’squirrel project’ of sort by trying to identify the squirrels who visits. So I’m going to start this off by naming this cute little squirrel “Hazel”. Well, I’m not sure if it’s male or female and it’s actually the name that my daughter SKim thought of … ;)
