Leaves On My Jetty
As 2008 comes to a close, I suppose it’s natural that one would reflect on the events or non-events of the past year (have you done really nothing?). It’s also natural I supposed that we would only like to recollect the happy and good events and leave out all the rest. For me I would most likely leave out all the rest as far as work in the office is concerned! And some friends were concerned about my candor over this and would have leave out all the rest. But that’s them and I am me and we need to be true to ourselves. I supposed I’ll never cease to be incensed by insanity and injustice.
Anyway I was about to go through my blog posts for 2008 to read the ones I like and “leave out all the rest” when I was distracted by some noises from across the river which I am glad to discover, turned out to be the monkeys which I had not heard nor seen for the good part of 2008 due I think to the activities of some building construction works across the river from where I live. There was an undeveloped buffer of land to the river which they have now returned and stay I hope.
Fallen Mangroove Apple
While out on the jetty I didn’t get to see the monkeys, only the movements of the trees where they were frolicking and making a racket but I noticed lots of fallen leaves and a couple of fruits from the mangrove trees and that left me with thoughts again of the past events of 2008 and plans that had fallen on the wayside. Time is short and life does speed you by.
So what plans had fallen by the wayside for you in 2008?
But I am choosing to “leave out all the rest” and leave you with some of the thoughtful moments these leaves had provoked in me over the past few years since we moved to our new house. Trusting that 2008 had been a year well lived for you and not one that you had to leave out all the rest. Be Well.

The year 2008 is gone but it makes us strong.
The path was long, but we walked with a song.
There were fears and tears but we had reasons for cheers.
Wishing u happy memories of 2008and a healthy and blissful new year.
With Gratitude and Loving Kindness,
ROBIN
Hi Robin!
Thanks for the meaningful words and all the best to you in 2009 and always.
Happy New Year Unker! When are u taking me kayaking? Last time missed out liao..
Wuching - hey! Give me a call when you’re in town and we’ll fix you up!
I stumbled upon your blog, and man, you have an awesome eye for photographs. How do you twist your photographs on your layout? Is it like saved on a file with transparent background and sorts?
Maris - Thanks. I love to frame my shots and to capture fleeting images to remind me of the beauty and miracle that’s all around us.
I used Photoshop to lay out the photos. First the photos are given a white frame by making the canvas size bigger. Then they are individually placed on another larger image and given a “drop shadow” with the layer style command. Then I just rotate and resize the images to get the composition I like. I’m really lousy (and lazy) to explain this properly but would be more than happy to show you. Anyway hope this makes some sense!
