Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society & International Childhood Cancer Day 2009

I tend to lose myself in work (or when I’m kayaking out on the waters) especially when I’m working on a design presentation or any other projects that I’m immersed in and that’s what (and why) I’d been busy, busy and busy on for the past 2 weeks.

But not that busy for me to be unaware of or forget what’s going on around and so it was that I decided to do my bit for the Sarawak Children Cancer’s Society to support, bring awareness of children cancer and to raise fund for them. And so I rushed over to sign up and collect my pledge card on late Wednesday night at The Spring shopping center.

I’d always felt that one should not expect anyone to do something as a condition before we’ll donate something for charity which I think kind of goes against the spirit. I frown on gimmicks too but then again in this MTV age; there’s a need for shock and awe to grab anyone’s attention. Irregardless it’s for a good cause. And so I decided that I’ll not set any limit before I “go bald” which also in the limited time available I may not be able to do so.

kennygoesbaldAnyway I’m glad to say that I manage to collect a total of RM1,150/- from my work place with the largest contribution of RM1K from my Company. And even though it’s not even close to the amount of RM65,325.01 raised by the awesome Kenny Sia; I’m still glad that we’re doing our little bit and in life every little bit helps. And never mind the detractors who reckoned that since I’m already half way there, it’s really inappropriate that I should try to raise money for charity in this manner. Whatever.
