Going Bald for the Sarawak Children Cancer Society
The funniest remark I got from the sight of my clean shaven head was from my wife.
“I have never seen you so naked before!”
How sweet.
Eugene (2nd from left) and friends awaits their turn to go bald. And trouble awaits them the next day at school. *sigh*
Not so sweet nor funny however was the reaction that Eugene Kueh and his friends received from their headmaster of Green Road Secondary School whose parents were called in to be reproached over their shaven heads! Unbelievable! But sadly true that an act of charity and kindness would be so twisted by the warped and backward minds of some of our school authorities. Their insane conduct has sullied the good name and history of the school. There’s no nicer way to put it Mr. Putit but what was done was not nice - it’s disgraceful.
Some of human attitudes are insane and more dangerous.
I would have posted this outrage earlier but for the fact that I was and still am swamped with work when I would rather be out on the waters and in the sunshine like this fine speciment of a crocodile lurking on the banks of Batang Rajang at Tanjung Manis; away from the madness and naked shame of the school authorities like Green Road and as I understand from Batu Lintang as well where one poor boy was actually sent home!
Have a great weekend ahead wherever you are lurking - bare, naked or both. Whatever.

i don’t get it… why is hairstyles (or no style in this case) an issue in school? imo, for guys, no hair is better than long messy dyed hair. :p

As a schoolteacher myself, I am only too aware how some school administrators get their heads buried in the rule books and do things that don’t make a bit of sense for the sake of “policy”. For example, I once taught at a public senior high school here in Japan where students were punished by being made to sit on their knees for an hour outside on the sidewalk (on a cold day) because they’d been late for school…BECAUSE THEIR SCHOOL BUS HAD GOTTEN CAUGHT BEHIND A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT!!!! I also know of a boy who was punished at his school (not one where I worked) by having his head shaved because his FRIEND had been caught drinking alcohol.
Bureaucratic legalism rarely has any IQ to speak of.
I think the bald pate suits you, Francis. Maybe that should be your look from now on!
