A Friday sunset rainbow I found on the drive home. 14th March 2008

We can be so caught up with work and situations in our lives that we tend to overlook the joys of the beauty there is that are all around us. Really.

Peaceful Morning

Fiji sunrise, 18th February 2008

Although I’m not really a morning person (who is!), I automatically wake up at sunrise and promptly go back to sleep if I have nothing on for the morning!

But on the occasions when I do have to be up early, I look forward to the sunrise to enjoy the peace and the magical colours of the morning. Moments to relish before we get caught up in the madness of the day.

7 Habits Of Highly Effective Ah Bengs

by FH2o on January 17, 2008

We’d had one of those boring like shit briefing by outside cons consultants yesterday afternoon and which I jokingly termed as “boh yah boh chiak” (direct translation from hokkien - “no real, no use”) kind of meetings and which prompted one of my colleague ask whether I’ve heard about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Ah Bengs.

For the benefits of those of you who haven’t - here’s where Stephen Covey has ripped this off from!

Habit No 1: Be Pro-Active
Kin Ka Kin Chiew (fast leg, fast hand)

Habit No 2: Begin with the End In Mind
Ooh Tao Ooh Buay (have head, have tail)

Habit No 3: First Things First
Chik Hung Chik Hung Lai - Ban Ban Lai
(One thing at a time, slow and steady); or
Cho Tow Seng (do first)

Habit No 4: Think Win-Win
Long Chong Ai Yarh (want to win in everything)

Habit No 5: Seek To Understand Rather Than To Be Understood
Cho Lang Ai Eh Beng Pek (you must be understanding)

Habit No 6: Synergize
Tai Kay Ai Hup Chop (all must co-perate)

Habit No 7: Sharpen the Saw
Toh Bua Lai Lai

Intruding & Intriguing Moments

by FH2o on September 14, 2007

Beautiful morning flight to Miri from Kuching, 13 September 2007

I couldn’t help myself but to subtly stick my camera over to the cockpit window of the passenger in front of me in order to frame these 2 grab shots just after we took off from Kuching International Airport. Thanks to this anonymous person who did not mind my intrusion, I am able to share these 2 beautiful moments here. Trusting that you’ll have more beautiful moments over the weekend! Cheers!
There’s gold out there on them waters. See it? Get it?

Spectacular Saturday Sunset

by FH2o on September 1, 2007

Francis Ho Skies PhotographsDinner interrupted - by a spectacular sunset, 1 st September 2007

We were on the way out for dinner when the orange-red rays of the setting sun against the azure evening skies momentarily stunned us with one of the most spectacular display I’d seen for a while. I stopped the car several times along the way to capture this beautiful but fleeting moment.

Francis Ho Kuching Skies PhotographsJust another beautiful Kuching sunset!

I think it’s in moments like this that so dazzle us that we give pause to our life and momentarily keep us in the here and now. Bathed in luminescence, a door seems to open up to us giving us a glimpse to another reality. A beautiful and peaceful reality. Perhaps a revelation to our true being which is lost perhaps forever in our egos of self importance, cleverness, greed and our meaningless busyness.

I love spectacular sunsets and I always will. It’s moments like this that I joyfully find myself lifted beyond the confines of the mundane and ordinary. Like when I’m on the waters alone - I become whole again. I hope that perhaps you now understand why I love the waters, trees, hills, clouds and skies; for I know where true peace, joy and beauty lies - even though they’re glimpsed only momentarily. I know that it’s always here but rarely witnessed but I’d been blessed with more than my share and which I had shared in my pics here now and on many other previous occasions. Have a beautiful Sunday tomorrow. Be at peace and be well.
