FH2o in Caricatures

by FH2o on January 28, 2007

My daughter KH2o loves to doodle on the computer screen with “Paint”, the default MS program in ‘Accessories’ and with too much time on her hand on the weekend from not doing her homework, she came up these caricatures of me (with buddy too - who was also not spared!) …

Is she being creative or just being deliriously happy from the iPod video that my sister from Sydney has given her and her younger brother Jimaz (as he liked to be called) as presents? What do you think and please keep any unflattering remarks about a striking likeness to me to yourself … *sigh*

BTW she forgot about the pink kayak but I was not about to remind her! Have a snigger or two and have a great week ahead!

Sunless Sunday

by FH2o on January 28, 2007

It rained the entire night and it was still raining when I woke up and I decided to cancel the kayaking trip after looking at the dense dark clouds and rain blocking out the sun. I was right to cancel the trip as it rained the entire day and the river would have been quite swollen with all that down pour.

The rain stopped for just a little while to allow me to snap the above sunset photo before it came down in buckets again!

I took the opportunity to go out for breakfast with my other half and to the wet market with her after that to buy some vegetables for lunch and dinner. Then I laze around the house listening to music, did some reading, chatted with my children, visited a friend, went out for coffee with another to catch up and came back to play with Buddy. Nice really. See - there’s more to life than just kayaking even for FH2o!

It’s Raining - So?

by FH2o on January 27, 2007

That’s why it’s called the “rain” forest.
However, somehow it’s hard for some folks to understand that one will get wet when embarking on a ‘rainforest kayaking adventure’ down a jungle river. Whilst there are others who relish the once-in-a-lifetime experience of getting drenched under an unexpected waterfall on a kayak.

Go out this weekend - get wet. And learn to live.

Captivated

by FH2o on January 26, 2007

No matter how many times I’d been on the same river, somehow I’m still captivated by the wonders and beauty of nature in the wonderment of it all. I feel a sense of peace, timelessness, joy and one with this world. Label me nuts but I did not see that many happy smiling faces on the way to work this morning!

Wishing you all a captivating weekend!

Taking it Easy

by FH2o on January 24, 2007

Chris, George, Kwang & Francis Ding wanted to try out their new kayaks and we arranged to meet up at a coffee shop at the 7th Mile on sunday morning for breakfast before embarking on our adventures. This being a ‘maiden’ voyage, we wanted to take it easy although the weather has other plans with intermittent heavy rains for the past couple of days prior to the trip and a threatening sky on that morning. I was concerned that the water levels may be too high and the flow too fast but when we reached Kg Semadang, I was relieved to find that the conditions were still within safety limits.

We were joined by James Ong, brothers Wee and Yat, and Steven Hogg from Brisbane who was on holidays in Kuching. Chris and George also brought along their sons. We set off from Kg Semadang for a leisurely float down to Kg Git, by which time we were already planning for our next kayaking trip!
Here are the photos of our antics adventures on a wet but fun-filled sunday morning. Join us next time will ya? ;)
